As I sit here listening to Rod Stewart’s new CD – “Soulbook” and thoroughly enjoying the music, I ponder over the events of 2009. It has been a roller coaster of a year. In Sept 2008, myself and 49 other folks were given the opportunity to seek other avenues of employment. My last day was January 29, 2009. I had 4 months to deal with the emotions of that announcement. I had worked for this company for over 35 years and had hoped to retire at 65. Alas, apparently it wasn’t meant to be. I was given a good severance package, certainly not enough to make it for 7 years until retirement, but some room to decide what to do. Of course, the recession hit us big time, but I still worked not to be dragged under the emotions of the day. A week after my last day, my son-in-law also lost his job. My daughter was on maternity leave with benefits ending in April. In May, we published our Online store – Handbag Gems. One thing that I have learned through this whole process is apparently it takes time for these websites to start earning an income. Apparently a lot longer than the money I have to live while waiting…….But I will continue, work on other things to try to make money and hope the site will take off.
How was your 2009! If you had a great year, I wish continued success for 2010. If your year was like mine or worse, I wish for health, happiness and prosperity for the 2010!
